MOPE actively strives to reduce the carbon footprint of Slovenia’s residents. Through innovative approaches, it aims to create a sustainable future, highlighted by its initiative to change citizens’ commuting habits. To encourage a shift from car use to eco-friendly cycling to work, MOPE developed the idea for a modern web application. Using gamification elements, this application motivates residents in a fun and engaging way to make more sustainable commuting choices while enhancing their quality of life and the environment.

Strategy
MOPE is preparing for a future where Slovenians’ commuting habits are ahead of their time – more sustainable, healthier, and more connected with the environment. The Ministry wanted to create an innovative initiative, Full of Energy, that would redefine how we commute to work.
Through modern technology and gamification elements, the initiative aimed to inspire a shift from car use to cycling. The platform was designed to track cycling routes, foster competition among users, and reward achievements – all in a fun and motivating way!
The goal is to engage as many people as possible and make "Polni zagona" more than just an initiative – a movement that propels Slovenia toward cleaner air, reduced traffic congestion, and greater public satisfaction.
Gamification
We proudly reflect on the project we conceived and executed – the Full of Energy web platform, developed in collaboration with MOPE. The platform was a key component of the initiative to promote sustainable commuting habits, focusing on transitioning from car use to cycling to work.
Through gamification, we developed an innovative tool that motivated users in a fun and effective way. The platform allowed participants to track their cycling routes, compete with others, and earn rewards for their achievements. The results were outstanding – hundreds of participants collectively cycled thousands of kilometers, significantly reducing carbon emissions and improving the quality of life.
Our platform became more than a technological solution – it became a driving force for change, helping Slovenians recognize the benefits of sustainable mobility. We are proud to have been part of a project that positively impacted the environment and people’s daily lives.
Results
As part of the "Polni zagona" initiative, which promotes cycling instead of driving, we achieved incredible results together:
- Nearly 240,000 kilometers cycled in the spring of 2024 – equivalent to circling the Earth six times!
- 37 tons of CO₂ saved, the same as the yearly absorption of 743 mature trees.
- 104 participating municipalities and 55 companies actively supporting sustainable mobility.
Let’s keep cycling – for cleaner air and a better life!
